Diamonds on the soles of her shoes.

Canary Brogues - R850

Tan Ankle Boots - R1000

Buffalo Skin Satchel - R850

Military Boots - R1200

Peep-toe Brogue - R850
Baby Doll Sandal - R650

Two-toned Pumps - R850
You might recognise some of these shoes from the shop windows of Long street's top boutiques, but you probably aren't as familiar with these kind of prices. That's because these shoes, along with their reasonable pricetags are from the source. I found Diomande Leather Craft in the African Women Trading Market on 112 Long Street, a place where many of us Cape Tonians don't dare to venture because of the curios and swarms of tourists.

Mamadou is the craftsman and entrepreneur behind the brand and can be found in his small shop/workshop on the basement floor of the market. If you don't find your size, a style or colour you like on the shelves, don't fret. Mamadou will simply trace your feet onto paper and create a custom made pair of shoes for you, at no extra cost. Diomande are also happy to go beyond their styles, all you need to do is simply bring a picture of the shoe you want and they will replicate it to the best of their ability.
